Home Inspections - They are an important step in the purchase of a home. Many people still skip this vital step though. When there is more than one offer on a home, many people offer to waive the home inspection contingency to make their offer seem more appealing. But is that wise?
Any reasoning person would answer "no" to that question, but in the heat of a bidding war it may seem logical. Imagine that you are purchasing a house that looks immaculate for $200,000. You waive the home inspection to out bid another buyer. You may have purchased that home at the very top of what you can afford. Now after you move in you discover many issues that could have been resolved. If those issues cost, let's say, $10,000. What did you actually pay for the home? $210,000? Not even that. Factor in the time, stress, and other issues fixing the problems and it cost a lot more.
S in short, a home inspection is extremely important. So make sure you not only get a home inspection, but hire a seasoned home inspector who will work hard for you.
